About Cornwall
I finally made it to Trebarwith Strand after what felt like the world's slowest drive down from Bristol. The satnav decided to throw a wobble just past Launceston, directing me down a narrow lane that was more puddle than path—my little hatchback bounced like it was on a trampoline, and I was convinced I'd end up in a hedge. But hey, that's Cornwall for you: wild, unpredictable, and worth every muddy splatter. As I crested the hill, the North Cornwall coast unfolded like a proper postcard—rugged cliffs, that endless Atlantic crashing below, and there it was, my home for the week, tucked right in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Pulling up, I had this buzz of anticipation, wondering if it'd live up to the photos. First impressions? Spot on. It's a luxury ground-floor apartment in a period property, all quirky charm with top-notch fittings and those jaw-dropping views straight over the long sandy beach to Gull Rock. Stepped inside and was hit with the warmest welcome: open-plan living room with a comfy sofa begging me to sink in, white-washed walls, slate floors, a neat bistro dining spot, and a kitchen kitted out for lazy cooks. Best bit? The cream tea laid out on arrival—fresh scones, clotted cream, jam. I kicked off my wellies and scoffed the lot before I'd even unpacked.

From that moment, the holiday was all about doing sod all, and I loved every second. No grand plans, no hiking marathons—just proper slowing down. Mornings started with coffee on the front patio, book in hand, toes wiggling in the sun as sea salt hung in the air. Trebarwith Strand beach is literally paces away, so I'd amble down for a barefoot potter along the sand, maybe dip a toe in the waves if I was feeling energetic. Mostly, though, it was back to the apartment for sofa lounging, gazing out at the ocean doing its dramatic thing. One afternoon, I cracked open a battered copy of a Poldark novel—fitting, right?—and lost hours watching gulls wheel over the Strand. The patio became my throne; I'd nod off under a brolly, waking to the gentle roar of surf.

Tintagel’s just up the road, but I barely bothered—too busy perfecting the art of idleness. A gentle stroll to the local shop for pasties and a pint at the beach café was the height of adventure. There was this one moment of self-reflection, sprawled on the sofa with a cuppa, staring at the view: when did I last just *be*? Work's non-stop emails and city rush had me wired; here, time stretched like toffee. I chuckled at myself—me, the eternal doer, mastering the joy of bugger all. No FOMO, just pure, salty bliss.

By week's end, I didn't want to leave. If you're after a reset, find a spot like this. Pack a book, forget the itinerary, and let Cornwall work its lazy magic.
