About Devon
I finally made it to this cracking little spot in Bideford after what felt like the world's most faff-filled drive down from Bristol. Picture this: I'm bombing along the A39, singing along to some dodgy 90s playlist on Spotify, when suddenly the sat-nav decides to throw a wobbly. It reroutes me through some tiny lanes that were basically one car wide, with hedges clawing at the sides of my hatchback like they were auditioning for a horror film. To top it off, I missed the turning for Quay Close by a mile—ended up looping back past the same bewildered sheep twice. By the time I pulled up, I was knackered, a bit sweaty, and questioning my life choices as a solo holidaymaker. Why didn't I just take the train?

But honestly, the moment I stepped out and clapped eyes on the place, all that arrival chaos melted away. This brand-new cottage is an absolute gem—modern as anything, beautifully finished right down to the last detail, and kitted out so thoughtfully you'd think they'd read my mind. Guests who've stayed already rave about the comfort and style, and I get it; it's clearly designed for proper relaxation without any faff. First impressions? Spot on. The front door swings open to this light, airy space that just welcomes you in—no creaky hinges or dusty corners here. I dumped my bags in the hallway and immediately flopped onto the sofa, which was so plush I nearly didn't get up again.

Wandering round, I couldn't stop grinning at how everything just works. The kitchen's a dream for knocking up a quick fry-up—proper shiny hob, all the gadgets you need, and even a Nespresso machine that had me feeling fancy before I'd unpacked. Upstairs, the bedroom's got this massive, comfy bed with views peeking out over the rooftops towards the estuary. I stood there for a bit, cuppa in hand, thinking, "Blimey, after that drive, this is exactly what I needed." It's got that perfect holiday vibe: stylish without being pretentious, cosy without being cluttered.

We ventured out for a mooch along Bideford Quay, just a stone's throw away—proper fresh sea air hitting you, fishing boats bobbing about, and chaps selling pasties from vans that smelled divine. Grabbed a cream tea from a nearby café (jam first, obviously), and it was the perfect way to shake off the road stress. Later, we strolled the river path, watching the tide roll in, and I even spotted a seal popping its head up—nature's cheeky hello. Back at the cottage, firing up the smart TV for a chill evening felt effortless; everything's so intuitive.

Looking back, that mishap of a journey was almost a blessing—it made arriving here feel like striking gold. In a world that's non-stop, this place is my reset button. If you're after a Devon escape that's pure bliss from the off, you won't go wrong here. Can't wait to come back.
