About Dorset
I’ll never forget the drive down to Weymouth – what should’ve been a straightforward few hours from Bristol turned into a comedy of errors thanks to that daft sat-nav glitch. We were trundling along the A35, me singing along to the radio, when it suddenly decided we needed to take a detour through some narrow country lanes that felt more like goat tracks. Branches scraping the car roof, my other half white-knuckling the door handle, and me pretending I knew where we were going. By the time we spotted the sea glinting ahead, we were late, flustered, and arguing over whose fault it was (spoiler: it was the sat-nav). But honestly, that little chaos only made the arrival sweeter.

Pulling into the electronically gated car park of this swish new harbourside development felt like stepping into a postcard. We ditched the car in our allocated spot – no more driving for us, thank goodness – and hauled our bags up to the first-floor apartment via the lift (stairs were there too, but after that drive, I wasn’t risking it). The anticipation had been building all week, scrolling through Jurassic Coast pics, but nothing prepared us for those first jaw-dropping views. Floor-to-ceiling windows framing the marina, boats bobbing gently, and the harbour alive with that classic Weymouth buzz. It’s luxurious without being stuffy – think sleek, modern vibes perfect for kicking back.

We dumped the bags and cracked open a bottle of fizz on the balcony, watching the sun dip over the water. The place sleeps four easily, with two elegant bedrooms (one with its own en-suite shower, which was a godsend after our sweaty drive). It’s spot-on for couples or a small family like ours – cosy yet spacious enough to not trip over each other. First impressions? Blimey, it was love at first sight. We wandered out that evening, just a short stroll to the harbour front, grabbing fish and chips from a proper old-school chippie, the salty sea air mixing with that vinegar tang. Kids were paddling in the shallows, couples ambling hand-in-hand – pure Dorset magic.

The next morning, still buzzing from the arrival high, we laced up our trainers for a gentle Jurassic Coast ramble. Weymouth Beach was calling, all golden sands and Nothe Fort looming dramatically at the end. We even squeezed in a cheeky cream tea at a nearby café, scones so fresh they crumbled at a touch. But it was the quiet moments back at the apartment that hit home – sipping tea on the balcony, harbour lights twinkling, reflecting on how we’d needed this break more than we realised. Life’s been a whirlwind lately, work piling up, and here we were, parked up and properly present. That messy journey? Best mishap ever – it made us appreciate the haven we’d stumbled into even more.

If you’re eyeing a Weymouth getaway, snag something like this. It’s the perfect launchpad for lazy beach days or coastal paths, all with those unbeatable views to boot. We didn’t want to leave.
