Stepping inside, the open-plan living area just wrapped us up in its cosy arms: a fully fitted kitchen gleaming and ready for action, light pouring in from those massive bi-folding doors that make the outdoors feel like an extra room. We dumped our bags, cracked open a bottle of local cider (grabbed from the village shop on the way, post-tyre drama), and flopped at the dining table, still giggling about our arrival farce.

First impressions? Bloody brilliant – sorry, I mean spot on. That patio furniture beckoned us out straight away for a late lunch, with the countryside stretching out like a painting you never want to leave. We tucked into cheese ploughman’s I rustled up from the fridge goodies, the Tor standing sentinel as the sun finally broke through.
