About St Ives
I finally made it to Carbis Bay after what felt like the scenic route from hell—well, not hell, but definitely a detour involving a wrong turn onto a narrow Cornish lane that had me convinced the hire car was about to become one with a hedge. Sat nav? More like sat-nav farce. Still, as I crested the hill and caught that first glimpse of the sea sparkling below St Ives, all was forgiven. The anticipation had been building for weeks, and pulling up to this sleek, modern holiday spot right in the heart of it all, I knew we'd struck gold.

It's the sort of place that's utterly desirable, tucked away in Carbis Bay with crystal-clear waters just a stone's throw from the door—perfect for couples or families who fancy a bit of luxury without the fuss. From the off, the first impressions were spot-on: serene vibes everywhere you look, with a bubbling hot tub waiting in the garden and complimentary access to on-site spa facilities that screamed 'relaxation central'. We dumped the bags and just... exhaled.

The joy of this trip? Doing sod all, really. Proper lazy cottage days, the kind where time stretches out like warm toffee. Mornings started slow, brewing tea in the sun-drenched kitchen, then spilling out into the garden with a book and zero agenda. I'd flop into a lounger, the sea breeze whispering past, and lose myself in a dog-eared paperback—something light and forgettable, because who needs plot when you've got waves crashing faintly in the distance? The garden was my happy place: lush, private, with that hot tub bubbling away like it was personally offended if you didn't hop in at least twice a day. Under the stars at night, glass of wine in hand, it felt like the world had hit pause. Bliss.

We'd amble down to Carbis Bay beach some afternoons, just far enough for a paddle in the shallows—those turquoise waters are no joke, cool and invigorating without being bracing. But mostly, it was about slowing right down. No grand hikes up to the coast path (though it's tempting), no rushing into St Ives for pasty-hunting marathons. One day, I even managed a sneaky spa session—sauna, steam room, the works—emerging feeling like a human jelly, utterly rebooted. Lunch was picnics in the garden: cheese, crackers, whatever was knocking about, eaten while watching clouds do their thing.

There was this gentle moment of self-reflection on day three, lounging there with the sun on my face, thinking how daft it is that we pack our lives so full back home. Here, doing very little felt like the point—like recharging batteries I didn't know were flat. A bit of a laugh, really; I caught myself nodding off mid-chapter, book slipping onto my lap, and just let it happen. Woke up to the sound of gulls and felt absurdly content.

By the end of the week, packing up was a wrench. This serene sanctuary had us hooked—lazy days in the garden, reading till your eyes blur, hot tub soaks that melt away the year. If you're after a getaway to cherish, one where the highlight is savouring the slow life, this is it. Can't wait to go back.
