About Weymouth
I finally made it to Weymouth after what felt like the world's most faffing-about drive down from Bristol. The sat-nav, bless its unreliable heart, decided to take us on a scenic detour through some narrow lanes that had me white-knuckling the wheel while my other half yelled directions from a crumpled map. We nearly ended up in a cow field – proper comedy of errors – but then, like a gift from the traffic gods, we spotted the sea glinting ahead and rolled into town just as the sun dipped low. Heart racing a bit from the chaos, but buzzing with that proper holiday anticipation, you know?

Pulling up to this third-floor apartment right in the thick of it all was a relief. Private off-road parking? Absolute legend – no circling like vultures for a space. We hauled our bags up the stairs (note to self: pack lighter next time), and stepping inside, I was gobsmacked. It's this cosy, modern spot with the most cracking sea views from the living room window – you can practically taste the salt air. The beach is literally on the doorstep, and it's a cheeky two-minute wander to the nearest pub and a row of chip shops and little stores. Perfect for us lot wanting a lazy coastal getaway without the hassle.

First impressions? Spot on. The living/dining room welcomed us like an old mate – squishy sofa, telly for bingeing rubbish shows, and a wee table for two that's ideal for scoffing fish and chips without silver service pretensions. The kitchen's kitted out proper: shiny hob, all the gadgets, even a posh coffee machine that had me grinning like an idiot first thing. We rustled up some pasta that night, windows flung open to the sound of waves and distant seagulls. Laughed about the drive over a glass of wine, feeling that holiday magic kick in.

Bedroom's a dream too – massive king-size bed that swallowed us whole, and the en-suite's no-frills but spotless, with a walk-in shower that blasted away the road grime in seconds. Woke up to sunlight streaming in, harbour views twinkling below. We mooched straight down to the beach, Weymouth's golden sands stretching out, families building sandcastles and that classic ice cream van jingle in the air. Strolled along the esplanade, past Nothe Fort peeking in the distance, grabbed a cream tea from a nearby café – proper Dorset job, scones still warm.

Looking back, that arrival kerfuffle was a right laugh, wasn't it? Made the peace of this place hit even harder. Sat there on the balcony (well, imagining one with those views), I had a proper moment: life's too short for perfect plans. Sometimes the mishaps make the best stories, and this little romantic bolthole? It's got me plotting a return already. Weymouth, you've won me over.
