From the off, it felt like a proper treat.

Stepping inside after that chaotic drive was like stumbling into a hug from an old mate. Three floors of sleek, contemporary styling with furnishings that screamed ‘relax here’, and honestly, more gadgets and comforts than we’d ever need – think fluffy towels stacked high and a kitchen kitted out for budding chefs. The real jaw-dropper? Eight bedrooms to pick from, all elegantly done up with super kings, kings, twins, en-suites, and family bathrooms that could swallow a rugby team’s worth of toiletries. We were a big group, eight of us plus the dog, and suddenly that arrival pandemonium melted away as we claimed our spots, flopping onto beds that felt like clouds.

First impressions? Spot on. We dumped the bags and headed straight out to the beach, paddling in the North Sea’s chilly waves while the sun dipped low – pure magic after the road rage. Dinner was classic Scarborough: haddock and chips from a beachfront stall, eaten on the sand with seagulls eyeing us up like we were the main course. Back at the house, we sprawled in the lounge, kids raiding the board games we’d found tucked away, and I had a quiet moment reflecting on how daft I can be, stressing over a delayed journey when paradise was waiting just minutes from the centre.
