About Scarborough
I’ll never forget the drive up to Scarborough last month – what was meant to be a smooth motorway jaunt turned into a comedy of errors when we hit a massive tailback just past York. The sat nav was having a right old paddy, rerouting us through some winding B-roads where the sheep outnumbered the cars, and to top it all, I’d forgotten to pack my phone charger, so my tunes cut out midway through a cracking playlist. By the time we rolled into town, tempers were fraying, kids in the back squabbling over crisps, and I was questioning why we hadn’t just stayed home with a cuppa and the telly.

But oh, the anticipation built as we crested the hill and spotted the sea glittering below – that classic Scarborough skyline with the castle ruins perched up high, promising fish and chips and donkey rides galore. We were buzzing, imagining lazy beach days and arcade shenanigans. Pulling up to our holiday spot right in the heart of it all, I let out a sigh of relief. It’s this beautiful modern property, smack in the central bustle – Peasholm Park just a two-minute stroll away for putting the world to rights, the beach a quick four-minute dash for sandy toes, and the town centre five minutes for a mooch around the shops. From the off, it felt like a proper treat.

Stepping inside after that chaotic drive was like stumbling into a hug from an old mate. Three floors of sleek, contemporary styling with furnishings that screamed ‘relax here’, and honestly, more gadgets and comforts than we’d ever need – think fluffy towels stacked high and a kitchen kitted out for budding chefs. The real jaw-dropper? Eight bedrooms to pick from, all elegantly done up with super kings, kings, twins, en-suites, and family bathrooms that could swallow a rugby team’s worth of toiletries. We were a big group, eight of us plus the dog, and suddenly that arrival pandemonium melted away as we claimed our spots, flopping onto beds that felt like clouds.

First impressions? Spot on. We dumped the bags and headed straight out to the beach, paddling in the North Sea’s chilly waves while the sun dipped low – pure magic after the road rage. Dinner was classic Scarborough: haddock and chips from a beachfront stall, eaten on the sand with seagulls eyeing us up like we were the main course. Back at the house, we sprawled in the lounge, kids raiding the board games we’d found tucked away, and I had a quiet moment reflecting on how daft I can be, stressing over a delayed journey when paradise was waiting just minutes from the centre. It’s funny, isn’t it? Life’s little mishaps make the good bits shine brighter. That stay reminded me to loosen up, embrace the chaos, and just enjoy the seaside vibe. Can’t wait to go back.
