About Loch Lomond
I’ll never forget the drive up to Loch Lomond – a proper Scottish road trip, or so I thought, until the satnav decided to have a midlife crisis just past Glasgow. It kept rerouting us down these tiny lanes that looked like they hadn’t seen a car since the Jacobites were about, and we ended up doing a three-point turn in a puddle the size of a small loch. Still, by the time we rolled into Drymen, hearts racing a bit from the detour, the anticipation was buzzing. Loch Lomond’s been on my bucket list forever, that promise of glassy waters and misty hills calling like an old mate saying, “Come unwind, you daft southerner.”

Pulling up to the place, my first impressions were spot on – this first-floor luxury apartment, all sleek and inviting, felt like it was made for a cosy getaway with my other half. Perfect for a romantic weekend or a mate’s escape, with that indoor spa bath stealing the show. It’s got hydro massage jets and underwater mood lighting that turns a simple soak into pure bliss – troubles? What troubles? We barely made it through the door before dumping the bags and testing it out.

But honestly, the real joy was doing sod all. After months of city hustle, slowing right down hit the spot. Mornings started lazy in the garden – it’s a belter, that shared outdoor space, with benches tucked under trees overlooking the gentle roll of the hills. I’d brew a pot of tea, grab a book (some dog-eared crime thriller I’d been meaning to crack), and just sit there as the mist lifted off the loch. No agenda, no timetable. The sun filtering through the leaves, birds chirping away – it was like the world hit pause.

Afternoons blurred into more of the same, and I loved every minute. We’d wander the garden paths, maybe pick a few berries if they were ripe, then flop back inside for lounging. That spa bath became our ritual – lights dimmed to a soft blue, jets rumbling like a contented cat, easing out every knot from the week’s stresses. Reading took on a new lease of life too; I devoured chapters I’d skimmed before, lost in the story while the loch views twinkled outside the window. Even meals were low-effort wins – cracking open local cheeses and bread from the village shop, eaten al fresco when the weather played ball.

One evening, bubbling away in the tub, I had a proper moment of self-reflection. Staring at the bubbles, I realised how rare it is to just *be* – no scrolling, no plans, just the hum of water and the quiet thrill of nothing much. We’re all rushing about like headless chickens, aren’t we? This wee spot reminded me there’s magic in the slowdown, in letting Loch Lomond’s calm seep into your bones.

By the time we packed up, I was recharged, grinning like an idiot. If you’re after a holiday that’s all about lazy days, garden reveries, and sinking into relaxation, this is your ticket. Pure, unadulterated chill. Can’t wait to go back.
