About Loch Ness
I’ll never forget the drive up to Inverness – our sat-nav decided to throw a proper wobbly just as we hit the A82, rerouting us through some winding Highland backroad that felt like it hadn’t seen tarmac since the Jacobites. Rain was lashing down, the windscreen wipers on overdrive, and my mate Dave was in the passenger seat, clutching his phone like it was a lifeline, yelling “Turn left here? No, right! Wait, where’s the signal?” We ended up doing a three-point turn in a puddle the size of Loch Ness itself, laughing hysterically as the car fishtailed. By the time we spotted the city lights, we were soaked, starving, and questioning our life choices. But honestly, that chaotic arrival only made the payoff sweeter.

Pulling into the off-road parking spot felt like striking gold after the madness. We grabbed our bags, dashed to the lift, and shot up to the first floor, hearts racing with that proper holiday buzz – you know, the one where you’re half-expecting Nessie to pop out and say hello. Stepping inside? Blimey, what a treat. It’s this cracking first-floor apartment, all on one level, dead handy for us lot with our mismatched luggage. The sitting and dining area hit us like a warm hug – contemporary vibes with these plush sofas (two grey leather ones and a tan beauty) arranged just so on a fresh wooden floor. Bay windows everywhere, flooding the place with light even on a dreich Scottish day. We dumped our stuff and flopped straight onto the sofas, grinning like idiots. First impressions? Ten out of ten. It’s opulent without being fussy, perfect for a Highland base, and walking distance to Inverness city centre – no faffing about with buses.

We barely unpacked before wandering out to stretch our legs. A quick stroll down to the River Ness, watching the water rush under the bridges, with the castle looming up ahead. Grabbed fish and chips from a chippy nearby – crispy batter, proper mushy peas – and ate them on a bench, dodging the midges like pros. That evening, we cracked open a couple of tins (Tennents, naturally) and planned our Loch Ness jaunt for the morrow. It’s only a short hop to Drumnadrochit, where you can hop on a boat cruise or poke around the visitor centre, all that Nessie lore that gets your imagination going.

Looking back, that bumpy journey was a right laugh, wasn’t it? Made me reflect on how the best trips often start with a bit of bother – keeps you grounded, reminds you it’s the people and the place that matter. This apartment’s been spot-on: comfy, central, and just posh enough to make you feel like you’ve won the holiday lottery. If you’re eyeing a Highland getaway, get yourself here. You won’t regret it.
