About 6 Bay View.

Benllech is most famous for its beautiful beach. Benllech Beach is a sheltered stretch of golden sands, crystal clear rock pools and glittering sea. There are a number of water sports available here, including water-skiing, surfing and diving. The town itself has a good selection of shops and restaurants, with many of them to be found by the sea.

Nearby attractions.

  • Caernarfon Castle

Historic castle built by Edward I with impressive polygonal towers including the Eagle Tower. Home of the Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum. Great for family days out.

About Anglesey
I finally made it to Anglesey after what felt like the world's longest drive from Manchester, complete with a daft little mishap when I took a wrong turn near Llanfairpwll and ended up circling that famously long signpost twice. Typical me, always rushing to get away only to faff about en route. But as I trundled into Benllech, the sea air hit me like a tonic, and my heart lifted – I'd been buzzing with anticipation for days, dreaming of ditching the daily grind for some proper downtime.

Pulling up to this first floor apartment, nestled among a cluster of bespoke luxury properties each with their own private grounds, I was chuffed to bits. It looked every bit the cosy retreat I'd hoped for, sleek and inviting from the off. Stepping inside, a lovely hallway swept me into the open-plan space – one side a comfy lounge with cracking sofas, tasteful décor, and those ceiling spotlights casting a warm glow over everything. The kitchen was right there too, all white units and a handy dining table, perfect for lazy brekkies or evening snacks with whoever you're with, be it a partner, mates, or solo.

From that moment, it was all about doing bugger all, and I loved every second. No grand plans, no ticking off landmarks – just sinking into the sheer joy of slowing right down. Mornings started with a cuppa on the private grounds outside, listening to the gulls and watching the clouds scoot over the Menai Strait. Benllech Beach is literally a stroll away, maybe five minutes' amble, so I'd pop down for a potter along the sand, barefoot and carefree, before retreating back to the garden for hours lost in a book. I devoured two thrillers that week, sprawled on a lounger with the sun filtering through, occasionally nipping inside for a biscuit raid.

Afternoons blurred into siestas – think dozing in the lounge, the spotlights dimmed just right, or fiddling about in the kitchen whipping up simple sarnies from local shop treats. No rush to eat out; the joy was in lingering over meals at that table, savouring the quiet company of my own thoughts or a mate's daft yarns. Evenings? A GandT in the garden as the light faded, maybe a gentle wander to Red Wharf Bay if the mood took me – it's close enough not to feel like effort – but mostly just stargazing from the grounds, letting the world spin without me.

Looking back, that gentle self-reflection hit me on the last day: life's so frantic back home, yet here I was, utterly content with sod all on the agenda. No FOMO, just pure, unadulterated loafing. It's funny how a spot like this reminds you that the best holidays aren't about doing, but not doing. If you're after a reset, Anglesey's got the ticket – I can't wait to go back and do even less.
