About Anglesey
I finally made it to Anglesey after what felt like the world's slowest drive from the mainland. The SatNav decided to have a midlife crisis just past the Britannia Bridge, rerouting us down a narrow lane that had me gripping the wheel like it was a lifeline. We ended up behind a tractor trundling along at snail's pace, with sheep eyeing us suspiciously from the verges. Still, as we crested the hill into Marian-glas, the anticipation bubbled up – those first glimpses of the sea winking between the hills had me grinning like a kid.

Pulling up to this charming ground-floor apartment, perched high between Benllech and Moelfre, I was bowled over. The views straight out to the countryside and distant mountains were stunning, and spotting the off-road parking spot was a relief after our little detour. It's the sort of pet-friendly spot that's spot-on for a family or mates wanting a proper coastal breather, with beaches just a short hop away. Stepping inside, the open-plan living space hit me with a wave of cosiness – a cracking kitchen for rustling up grub, squashy sofas, and a Smart TV for lazy evenings. But honestly, those bi-fold doors stealing the show, opening onto an enclosed garden that's pure bliss.

We dumped the bags and headed straight out back with mugs of tea. The garden's kitted out just right – chairs, a table, and not a whiff of effort required. Sat there as the sun dipped, listening to the odd bird chirruping, I thought, this is it, isn't it? The joy of bugger all. No grand plans, no rushing about. Just us, the view, and the kind of quiet that seeps into your bones.

The next few days blurred into the best kind of nothing. Mornings kicked off with coffee on the balcony off the king-size bedroom – mine, naturally, with its sneaky private perch for pondering life's mysteries (or just how many biscuits I could justify). The single room next door was perfect for my mate's lad, plenty of space to sprawl. We'd potter into the kitchen for toast and eggs, then flop in the sitting area with books. I devoured a battered paperback I'd brought, something daft and escapist, while the others nodded off under blankets. Afternoons? More garden time. Lounging with a GandT as the light shifted over the hills, watching clouds drift by. One evening, a family of rabbits hopped right up to the fence – cue much shushing and stifled giggles.

There was a touch of self-reflection one dusky moment, feet up after a gentle amble down to Benllech beach (barely a mile, and we took our time). Back home, life's a whirlwind of deadlines and to-do lists. Here, time stretched out lazy-like, forcing you to slow down. I caught myself smiling at how daft it is – we spend so long chasing 'doing stuff' when the real magic's in the pause. No need for Moelfre's harbour buzz or anything flash; a soak in the tub after, sharing daft stories in the lounge, was luxury enough.

By the end, I was utterly smitten with Anglesey's gentle charm. Those lazy cottage days recharged me more than any itinerary ever could. If you're after proper unwinding, this is your spot – views, garden, peace, and not a rush in sight. Can't wait to go back.
