About Anglesey
I finally made it to Anglesey after what felt like the longest drive from Manchester, dodging those cheeky roadworks on the A55 that had me crawling along like a snail on a salt lick. Picture this: me, sat-nav in one hand, pasty in the other, when splat – a seagull decides my windscreen needs a fresh coat of paint. Typical, eh? Laughed it off with a quick clean at the services and carried on, buzzing with that proper holiday anticipation, windows down, sea air whipping in.

Pulling into Cemaes Bay, I was gobsmacked – this charming little village tucked into Anglesey's wild north coast, with its sweeping sandy beach just begging for a stroll. The apartment I’d booked sits right in the heart of it all, paces from the local shop and pub, wrapped up in those stunning coastal landscapes. Stepping inside, I was hit with this warm glow from all the natural light pouring in, neutral tones making it feel like an instant hug after the drive. Perfect spot for families, but for me, it was all about switching off.

First morning, I cracked open the French doors to the garden – oh, what a treat. Overlooking the river trickling down to the bay, it’s this lush little haven with a picnic table that became my throne. Brewed a coffee in the well-stocked kitchen (proper appliances, no faffing about), grabbed my book, and plonked down for hours. No plans, no rush – just the sound of waves crashing faintly in the distance and gulls chatting overhead. I rustled up a lazy brunch there too, nothing fancy, just eggs and toast, then back to reading. That garden pulled me in like a magnet; I swear I spent half the day feet up, watching clouds drift by.

Afternoons blurred into this blissful nothing. A gentle wander to the beach – all golden sand and shallow waves perfect for paddling if you fancy, but mostly I just sat with a thermos, letting the tide tickle my toes. Back at the apartment, I’d unpack a takeaway from the village chippy, fizz in hand at the dining table, toasting to doing sweet FA. Evenings were pure indulgence: curling up with a blanket, flipping pages till my eyes drooped, the light fading over the bay. No hikes up Snowdon or big adventures – just the joy of slowing right down.

Reflecting on it now, sat here back home with the rain lashing the window, I realise that’s the magic. We’re all rushing about like headless chickens, aren’t we? This trip reminded me it’s grand to hit pause. Cemaes Bay and that cosy apartment gave me days of proper peace – lazy garden lounging, beach dozes, and not a care. If you’re after unwinding in Wales’ prettiest corner, you won’t go far wrong here. Here’s to more of the same next time.
