About Anglesey
Pulling up to the place, we were gobsmacked. It’s this cracking five-bedroom retreat tucked into nearly four acres of peaceful countryside, just a short stroll from Rhosneigr’s sandy beaches. That traditional white farmhouse vibe outside gives way to this airy, light-filled haven inside, all coastal colours and space that makes you breathe easy. First impressions? Spot on. The living area’s got this wood-burning stove begging for a lazy evening, and those massive windows frame dunes, lakes, and even a cheeky glimpse of Snowdonia in the distance. We dumped the bags and cracked open a brew, just soaking it in – pure bliss after the road rage. We were there for a chilled couple’s break, but let’s be honest, it turned into that lovely cottage life chaos you secretly crave. Mornings kicked off with brekkie in the massive kitchen – that central island became our command centre, with the double oven churning out bacon butties and the air fryer doing crispy hash browns like a champ. No faffing about; everything’s sleek and easy, dishwasher humming away while we plotted the day. First stop was always the beach – Rhosneigr’s got these fab stretches like Traeth Llydan, perfect for a gentle paddle or building lopsided sandcastles that promptly got swamped by the tide. We’d wander hand-in-hand, dodging jellyfish (spotted one the size of a dinner plate – eek!), laughing about nothing. Afternoons were for simple pleasures: a bimble along the coastal path towards Cymyran Bay, picking blackberries and pretending we’re foraging experts. Back at the house, we’d fire up the stove, crack a bottle of wine, and flop on the sofas with a book or that daft puzzle we’d brought. One evening, I tried my hand at a “gourmet” pasta on the induction hob – ended up with sauce everywhere and a smoke alarm serenade. Hilarious fail, but that’s the joy of it, isn’t it? No schedules, just us, the views, and a bit of gentle mayhem. Reflecting on it now, sat back home with the grey skies, that stay was a proper reset. In the rush of life, we forget how good it feels to unplug, watch the sun dip over the dunes, and just be. Anglesey’s magic snuck up on us – those quiet walks, the sea air, the way the house wrapped us in comfort. If you’re after a relaxed escape with your loved one, hunt down a gem like this. We’re already plotting a return. |
