About The Farmhouse.

In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on Anglesey's northern tip, Llanfechell is a small community 1.5 miles from Cemaes Bay. Named after the nearby 12th-century Mechell Church—said to be St Mechell's burial site and expanded over the years—the area attracts geologists and archaeologists with Mechell Mountain's rock formations and ancient monuments, some of the world's oldest. Parys Mountain's lunar-like copper mines are seven miles away.

About Anglesey
I finally made it to Anglesey after what felt like the world's most chaotic drive from the mainland. We'd crossed the Britannia Bridge in bumper-to-bumper traffic, thanks to some cheeky roadworks that popped up out of nowhere, and then my sat-nav decided to have a mid-journey meltdown, rerouting us down a narrow lane that was basically a sheep's personal runway. One particularly bold ewe stared me down as if to say, "This is my turf, mate," and I nearly ended up in a ditch swerving to avoid her. By the time we rolled into Llanfechell, I was frazzled, the kids were bickering over the last crisps, and my other half was pretending to nap to avoid refereeing. But oh, the anticipation was building – I'd been dreaming of this getaway for months, picturing lazy days by the sea and proper downtime.

Pulling into the designated parking spot near this cracking little village, nestled right by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, was like flipping a switch. The overflow car park was handy too, just in case, but we nabbed a prime spot. We bundled out, arms full of bags, and traipsed through the enclosed rear garden – already a winner with its private hot tub winking at us like a promise of bliss. Stepping inside this luxury three-bedroom holiday home felt like stumbling into a mate's swanky pad, but better. It's all contemporary vibes, done to a high standard, inviting us six in like we owned the place.

First impressions? Blown away. The open-plan living space is flooded with natural light, chic furnishings everywhere, and that plush corner sofa begging us to flop onto it with the Smart TV ready for a binge. We dumped the bags and straight into the kitchen – sleek worktops, everything you need to whip up a feast. I rustled up some fish and chips (local cod, naturally) while the kids fought over who got the hot tub first. Laughing about our mad dash earlier, we gathered round the dining table, plates steaming, and just soaked it in. Proper holiday magic.

That first evening, we wandered a short stroll to the local beach – think pristine sands and waves gentle enough for paddling without turning blue. Back at the property, hot tub session sorted the last of the journey kinks; bubbles and stars overhead, chatting rubbish till late. It's got on-site facilities too, like a games room or whatever they offer, perfect for keeping everyone happy. Made me reflect a bit – life's always rushing us, innit? That little mishap en route was a reminder to slow down and appreciate the now. This spot's the ideal base for it all: cosy nights in, quick jaunts to nearby spots like the coastal paths or a pint at the village pub. Can't wait for tomorrow's adventures, but honestly, arriving here was the highlight already. If you're after a group break in Anglesey, this is the ticket – chaos and all.
