About Conway
I finally made it to Rhos-on-Sea after what felt like the world's most faffing journey. I'd set off from Manchester full of beans, playlist sorted, but then hit a classic M56 snarl-up – some cheeky diversion that had me crawling along like a snail on a salt lick. By the time I turned off into this gem of a seaside town in Conway, I was knackered but buzzing with that proper holiday anticipation, you know? Windows down, sea air wafting in, and suddenly there it was: my ground-floor apartment right on the seafront, all cosy and inviting with its homely vibe.

Stepping inside, I was hit with the best first impressions – plush sofas begging to be sunk into, a Smart TV ready for a binge, and a kitchen kitted out enough to whip up a fry-up without breaking a sweat. Off-road parking was a godsend after the drive, and with the beach just a hop away, plus local shops a minute's stroll, it screamed 'relax mode activated'. I even brought the dog, who immediately claimed a spot by the window for prime sea-gazing duties.

But honestly, the joy of this trip? Doing sod all, in the best possible way. No grand plans, no ticking off lists – just lazy cottage days stretching out like the horizon. Mornings started slow: kettle on for a proper brew, then I'd flop in the living room with a book I'd been meaning to crack open for months. The sea view from the window was hypnotic – waves rolling in, gulls squawking – perfect for zoning out. One day, I barely moved from the garden area out back; it's not massive, but sheltered enough for a deckchair, a bit of sun (when it deigned to show), and the dog chasing shadows while I nodded off with a mug of tea going cold.

Afternoons blurred into reading marathons – that new thriller I'd packed, pages turning slower than usual because every few chapters I'd wander to the kitchen for a snack. Cheese on toast, maybe some Welsh cakes from the prom shop down the road. The beach was tempting, but mostly I just ambled there for a potter, feet in the sand, watching families build wonky castles. No need to go far – everything you need is right here, within a gentle five-minute wander. Evenings? Cosy film nights, curtains twitching with the sea breeze, or flipping through holiday snaps on the laptop before an early night.

It got me reflecting, mid-way through, sprawled on the sofa with the dog snoring beside me: when did life get so rushed? Here, time proper slowed down. No emails pinging, no deadlines – just the rhythm of the tide and the simple pleasure of bugger all on the agenda. I came back feeling lighter, recharged. If you're after a peaceful getaway with mates, family, or just you and your thoughts (and maybe a furry sidekick), this corner of Conway is pure magic for switching off. Can't wait to go back.
