About Conway
I’ll never forget the drive up to our holiday spot in Conway – what should’ve been a straightforward jaunt from the motorway turned into a proper comedy of errors. Sat-nav insisted on taking us down these narrow Welsh lanes that felt more like goat tracks, and just as we were arguing over whether to trust it or not, we hit a rogue pothole that sent my mug of tea flying all over the dashboard. Cue me mopping up with a service station napkin while the other half stifled giggles. By the time we rolled into Bryn Pydew, that serene little village tucked away in Conway, I was frazzled, dreaming of a cuppa and a sit-down. But honestly, pulling up to the place flipped the script entirely – first impressions? Absolutely cracking.

We’d been buzzing with anticipation on the approach, windows down, catching whiffs of sea air mixed with countryside freshness, wondering if it’d live up to the pics. And blimey, it did – this detached beauty is the sort of holiday home that makes you exhale and think, “Yeah, we’ve landed on our feet.” Pet-friendly too, which was a godsend with our daft Labrador in tow, tail wagging like a metronome as he sniffed out the garden. Stepping inside felt like a warm hug; the open-plan living/dining room is massive, perfect for sprawling out with a brew around the Smart TV or tucking into a lasagne I rustled up later. There’s even a snug bolthole with its own telly and a woodburning stove – ideal for cosy nights when the Welsh weather does its drizzly thing.

That first evening, after the arrival faff, we cracked open the hot tub right off the bat. Nothing beats bubbling away with a GandT, watching the sun dip behind the hills, the pup paddling at the edge like he owned the place. Laughter echoed as we recounted the tea-spilling saga – me vowing never to navigate again, which lasted all of five minutes. Next morning, we wandered a short hop to Llandudno Junction, just 1.5 miles away, grabbing fresh pasties from the bakery and ambling along the quiet paths towards the Conway Morfa estate. It’s all so unpretentious here – families picnicking, dog walkers nodding hello, that proper British seaside vibe without the hordes.

Staying put felt just as good, though. We fired up the stove in the snug one rainy afternoon, bingeing a box set while the world outside turned misty. I had a quiet moment then, staring into the flames, reflecting on how these little getaways remind you to slow down. Life’s rush back home? Forgotten. Here in Bryn Pydew, with its peaceful hum and this gem of a home, it’s all about simple joys – a splash in the tub, a home-cooked feast, and not a pothole in sight. If you’re after a Conway escape that ticks every box, this is it. We’re already plotting a return.
