About Llandudno
I finally made it to Llandudno after what felt like the world's most faffing-about drive from Manchester. We'd set off full of beans, me and my other half, Sarah, with the sat-nav promising a breezy hour and a half. But no, halfway there, I took a wrong turn onto some narrow B-road that had more sheep than tarmac, and then the heavens opened. Cue windscreen wipers on full pelt and Sarah clutching the oh-Jesus handle, muttering about my "legendary sense of direction." By the time we spotted the seafront lights twinkling through the rain, we were both knackered, starving, and I'd somehow managed to spill my travel mug of tea all over the passenger footwell. Classic me – turning a simple jaunt into a comedy of errors.

Pulling up to our ground-floor apartment right in the heart of this buzzing seaside town was like a sigh of relief. We'd been buzzing with anticipation all week, picturing lazy beach days and fish and chips by the pier, but after that drive, I was just praying for a dry doormat. First impressions? Spot on. It's this bright, cosy spot perfect for a couple like us – off-road parking that felt like winning the lottery in a place where spaces are rarer than hen's teeth. We dashed inside, dripping but grinning, and straight away it felt welcoming, like the kind of place that hugs you hello.

We dumped the bags in the spacious double bedroom – proper comfy-looking bed that screamed "crash here and forget the world" – and Sarah beelined for the fully-equipped kitchen to rustle up some tea (proper builder's brew, none of that herbal nonsense). I flopped in the sitting room, flicked on the telly to catch the footie scores, and just soaked it in. The whole flat's got this light, airy vibe, and it's literally paces from North Shore Beach. We could hear the waves crashing already, even through the downpour.

Next morning, chaos forgotten, we wandered out to the golden sands – proper classic Llandudno, with families building sandcastles and donkeys plodding along. Grabbed bacon butties from a nearby café, then strolled the seafront promenade, past the pier with its arcade games and ice cream stalls. I had a go on the 2p machines and, miracle of miracles, won enough for a bag of chips. Later, we ambled over to quieter West Shore for those cracking views across to Conway – the castle ruins peeking through the mist like something out of a postcard. Sat there with a coffee, watching the tide roll in, and I had one of those moments: life's too short for wrong turns and spills, innit? This little holiday pad reminded me to chill, laugh off the mishaps, and just enjoy the simple stuff – sea air, each other's company, and a cracking cuppa.

Honestly, if you're after a fuss-free base in Llandudno, this is it. We've already pencilled in a return – minus the sat-nav sabotage next time.
