About Llandudno
I’ll never forget the drive up to Llandudno – what was meant to be a straightforward jaunt from Cheshire turned into a comedy of errors thanks to that cheeky sat-nav glitch. We’d packed the car with enough snacks to feed a small army, but halfway there, it decided to send us on a scenic detour through some winding lanes that felt like they were auditioning for a horror film. Rain lashing down, windscreen wipers on overdrive, and me yelling at the dashboard like it was personal. “Left here? Are you having a laugh?” By the time we spotted the seafront lights twinkling through the downpour, we were both knackered, giggling at our soggy state, and wondering if we’d ever make it.

Pulling up to the place, heart racing with that proper holiday buzz – you know, the one where everything’s about to click into place – we grabbed our bags and dashed to the door. It’s this lovely ground-floor studio-style apartment, all cosy and tucked away in a quiet spot, perfect for us two. The second we stepped inside, though, chaos ensued. I fumbled the keys (classic me), nearly dropping them in a puddle, and then the door stuck a bit because of the damp. But once we wrestled it open? Blimey, what a treat. Bright and welcoming from the off, with sunlight streaming in despite the grey skies outside. The layout’s spot-on for a couple: compact kitchen right there for brewing a much-needed cuppa, a neat little dining nook, and the sleeping area looking ever so inviting after our road saga.

We dumped the bags, raided the fridge for the milk we’d wisely stashed en route, and bunged a couple of biscuits in the microwave for a quick warm-up. That first sip of tea on the enclosed patio – even with the wind whistling – felt like pure magic. Llandudno’s right on your doorstep: a stone’s throw to the beach where you can stroll the pier, grab fish and chips from a proper seaside spot, or just watch the waves crash. The town’s vibe hit us immediately – that mix of Victorian grandeur and proper Welsh charm, with shops and cafes buzzing just a short walk away.

Looking back, that messy arrival was the perfect icebreaker. It had us laughing about how holidays never quite go to plan, and yeah, maybe I need to trust the sat-nav less and my gut more. But those first impressions? They sealed it. Waking up to the sound of gulls, nipping out for a promenade wander, or plotting a gentle hike towards the foothills of Eryri – it was all there, waiting. We spent the next few days proper unwinding, beachcombing, and scoffing ice creams that were far too big for our own good. If you’re after a fuss-free escape with cracking coastal access, this is the spot. Made me reflect on how the best trips start with a bit of bother – keeps things real, doesn’t it?
