About Llandudno
I’ll never forget the drive up to Llandudno – we’d been buzzing with that proper holiday anticipation, you know, the kind where you’ve got the playlist sorted and the kids (well, our two teenagers) are finally quiet after nagging about signal. But about half an hour out, disaster struck: a rogue seagull decided our windscreen was its personal target. Splattered with what looked like a full English breakfast, we pulled over laughing our heads off, me wiping it with a pack of baby wipes while my other half quipped it was “nature’s welcome to Wales”. By the time we rolled into town, we were in stitches, the North Wales coast already working its magic.

Pulling up to this cracking eight-bedroom holiday home right in the heart of Llandudno, just a stone’s throw from the beach, our jaws dropped. It’s this elegant beast spread over three floors, dead central so you can wander to the shops, pubs, and all the sights without breaking a sweat. First impressions? Spot on. We stepped into a proper home-from-home with posh interiors that screamed “relax here”. Downstairs, the kitchen was a dream – fully kitted out for me to channel my inner chef (more like pretending I know what I’m doing), complete with a dishwasher to save us from the washing-up wars. Every bedroom had its own en-suite, which was a godsend for our lazy family vibe.

We’d come for a chilled couple’s break with the lads tagging along, but it turned into proper cottage life chaos in the best way. First morning, I attempted a full Welsh breakfast – bacon sizzling, cockles on the go – only for the toaster to rebel and ping out four blackened soldiers. Cue much faffing and giggles as we salvaged it with Marmite on toast instead. Honestly, moments like that had me reflecting: when did we get so out of practice at just pottering about? Work’s been mad, but here, burning toast felt like a win.

Afternoons were all about simple pleasures. We’d amble down to the beach, paddling in the Irish Sea while the lads skimmed stones at the pier. Llandudno’s promenade is pure nostalgia – donkey rides, ice creams from that little kiosk, and the cable car up the Great Orme for those epic views over the bay. We didn’t rush; one evening, we just sat on the terrace with fish and chips from a chippy down the road, watching the sun dip behind the headland. Pub crawls? Oh yes – a pint in a cosy local like the King’s Head, chatting with locals about the weather (always a safe bet).

Evenings back at the house were gold. Board games in the lounge turned competitive – Monopoly fights that ended in hugs and tea. The place slept us all comfy, no squabbles over bathrooms. Sure, there was the odd sock left on the stairs and a dishwasher that needed a nudge, but that’s the charm of family holidays, isn’t it? No five-star fuss, just us, the sea air, and those little mishaps that make memories. Llandudno nailed it for us – we’re already plotting a return. If you’re after that easy coastal escape, this is your spot.
