About Llandudno
I’ll never forget the drive up to Llandudno – what should’ve been a straightforward jaunt from Manchester turned into a proper comedy of errors. We’d piled into the car with the dog leads tangled like Christmas lights, the kids bickering over the last Haribo, and me navigating via a phone that kept losing signal in the hills. Then, just past Colwyn Bay, disaster struck: a rogue seagull dive-bombed the windscreen, splattering it with what looked like revenge guano. Cue emergency stop on a layby, frantic windscreen wiper action, and my other half muttering about how holidays shouldn’t start with bird poo omens. By the time we rolled into town, we were late, frazzled, and questioning our life choices.

But oh, pulling up outside that charming house in the heart of Llandudno? Instant mood-lifter. Roadside parking right there – no circling the block like headless chickens – and the place just screamed welcoming seaside escape. Pet-friendly too, which was a godsend with our three daft Labradors in tow, tails wagging like they owned the promenade already. We tumbled out, bags spilling everywhere, and fumbled with the keys while the dogs dragged us towards the door like it was made of sausages.

Stepping inside was like a warm hug after the chaos. The spacious kitchen hit first – fully kitted out with everything you’d need to rustle up a full Welsh breakfast or at least a decent cuppa to steady the nerves. Right next door, the dining room with seats for eight felt perfect for our rabble, imagining lazy suppers plotting the next day’s antics. And the sitting room? Bliss. Smart TV flickering on, electric fire glowing softly – we collapsed there with mugs of tea, dogs sprawled on the rug, and the sound of the sea faintly humming in the background. First impressions? Spot on. It was cosy without being cramped, vibrant without the bustle right on your doorstep.

That arrival kerfuffle had us in stitches later, once the dust settled. We ventured out for fish and chips on the pier – classic Llandudno, with the Great Orme looming like a friendly giant – and wandered the promenade as the sun dipped, candyfloss in hand. The town’s got that perfect mix of nostalgic charm and lively buzz, trams rattling by, arcade lights twinkling. Back at the house, we lounged in the sitting room, bingeing a rubbish quiz show, reflecting on how a dodgy journey had morphed into pure holiday magic.

Looking back, I reckon that little mishap was a blessing. It made the house feel even more like a sanctuary – our chaotic crew’s ideal base for beach walks up to West Shore, paddling in the shallows, or nipping to the high street for pasties. Made me pause and think: sometimes the scrappiest starts lead to the best stories. Can’t wait to go back and do it all again, minus the seagull, ta.
