About North Wales
Pulling up to the cottage felt like unwrapping a gift. Sitting amid the peace and beauty of the Welsh countryside, this luxurious holiday property makes a wonderful getaway for a large group of friends or family. Extra special touches include the hot tub, games barn, an outdoor dining space, and a paddock where the kids and canines can play. The house sits among 500 acres of farmland with the towns of Welshpool, Montgomery and Machynlleth all within easy reach. First impressions? Spot on. The place had that cosy, lived-in charm – welcoming lights glowing as the sun dipped low, and the air thick with the scent of fresh grass. We tumbled out, bags in tow, grinning like idiots at the sheer space of it all. No cramped city flat here; this was our kingdom for the week. Settling in was pure bliss, the kind of relaxed family couple break we’d been craving. Mornings kicked off with brekkie on the outdoor dining space, bacon sizzling while the kids chased our daft lab around the paddock. We’d wander the 500 acres, boots squelching on muddy paths, spotting rabbits and feeling miles from anywhere – though Welshpool’s cosy cafes were just a short hop for a coffee fix. Afternoons melted into hot tub sessions, bubbles fizzing as we sipped tea (none of your fancy cocktails; builder’s brew hits different in the countryside). The games barn was a riot – table football matches descending into giggles, me rubbish at pool but loving every daft shot. One evening, we ambled over to Montgomery, that picture-postcard town with its wonky streets and old market hall. Grabbed fish and chips from a chippy, ate them on a bench watching the world go by. Simple pleasures, innit? Back at the cottage, chaos reigned in the best way: kids building dens, us attempting a barbecue that nearly went up in smoke (note to self: check the wind direction next time). There was a quiet moment one night, staring at the stars from the paddock, where I reflected on how we’d let work gobble us up lately. This break? A gentle nudge to slow down, breathe deep, and remember what matters – family, laughter, and a bit of Welsh magic. We left buzzing, already plotting a return. If you’re after cottage life with a side of luxury, this North Wales gem delivers the lot. Proper restorative stuff. |
