About Saundersfoot
I finally made it to Saundersfoot after what felt like the world's most chaotic drive down from Swansea. The sat-nav decided to throw a proper wobbly just past Tenby, rerouting us through some tiny back lane that was more pothole than road. My other half was gripping the dashboard like it was a lifeline, and the kids in the back were chanting "Are we there yet?" on repeat. Then, to top it all off, we had a minor puncture scare—turned out to be nothing, just a rogue nail from who knows where—but it had us pulling over in a layby, faffing about with the spare tyre kit while the rain started spitting. I was picturing the whole holiday ruined before it began, swearing under my breath (silently, mind, for the kids' sake) and wondering why I hadn't just booked somewhere with a train station.

But as we crested that last hill into the village, the anticipation kicked in proper. Saundersfoot's got that classic Welsh coastal charm—you know, the sea winking at you between the houses, gulls wheeling overhead, and that briny tang in the air that screams "holiday." We'd been buzzing about this spot for weeks, dreaming of beach days and fish and chips, and suddenly the mishaps felt like a daft comedy sketch. Pulling up to the property, my heart did a little flip. It's this elegant house tucked away in Pembroke, perfect for our family of five (with room to spare), and from the outside, those anthracite grey accents pop against the pale yellow walls, with elegant green potted plants adding a vibrant welcome. It looked even better than the photos—like it was giving us a big, cosy hug after our road woes.

Stepping inside was pure magic. Straight into the heart of it: this open-plan living space that's all warmth and invitation. The sitting area's got a woodburning stove in a brick alcove, begging you to chuck on a log and flop onto the corner sofa with a cuppa. We dumped the bags, kids legging it to explore, and I just stood there grinning like an idiot. First impressions? Spot on. That evening, we fired up the stove, cracked open some local cider, and the chaos of the journey melted away. The enclosed patio out back called to us too—hot tub bubbling away, ready for a dip under the stars. We even discovered the cinema room later; the littlest one claimed it immediately for a Disney marathon.

Next morning, we wandered down to the beach, just a short stroll away—golden sands stretching out, perfect for paddling and building epic sandcastles. Grabbed pasties from a beachside van, watched families messing about in the waves, and I had one of those gentle "aha" moments, sitting there with sand in my socks. Life's too short for stressing over punctures or sat-nav fails; it's about these simple joys, isn't it? The property felt like our own little haven amid it all—those two woodburning stoves keeping things toasty, the vibe so relaxed it made you forget the world outside.

By the end of the stay, we'd hot-tubbed, beach-combed, and even squeezed in a family movie night that had us all in stitches. Saundersfoot worked its spell, turning arrival pandemonium into the best holiday memory. If you're after a family gem in Pembrokeshire, this is it—chaos and all.
